Changing things up with a I-Ching reading!

#24 changing to #51.

I’ve reached a point of return in life, which could be equated to “The World” arcana. I’m excited to jump into the new chapters in life, but need to do so at a humanly reasonable pace.

In time this energy will transform into a sudden cataclysmic release, kind of like “The Tower” arcana. It will be terrifying, but in some ways electrifying. After the clash of natural forces, to re-enter with poise and to respond with strength means great success.

I’m feelin’ it. Also a couple nods to my lack of social life which I’m not denying. Thankfully there’s implication that is on the mend.

Any I-Ching readers out there?

Today’s card of meditation: the Ten of Pentacles.

Wealth. Status. Family. Community. Royalty. A mastery of skills, and total control over resources. All may strive a majority of their lives to reach this condition, but what happens once you’re there? Is it nirvana to have no earthly worries? Is it soul crushing to have the responsibility of a kingdom under your wing?

If you’re reading this, what do you think?

A personal reading, regarding a client at my day job.

“What will it take to make this guy happy?” 9 of Cups reversed.

He won’t be happy with surface level performance. This guy needs deep, analytical, and effective answers in order to feel satisfied with the work. No bullshit.

“Why am I so sensitive to this, why does it get under my skin?” Ace of Swords.

It’s critcism, and it hurts because it’s true.

“How do I make sure I’m happy while putting up with this?” 2 of Pentacles reversed.

Fake it till you make it? (I hate pretending everything’s fine when I think otherwise). Soften the mistakes by pulling everyone’s attention to other priorities, and thus to offset the shame feelings.

Okay Tarot, thanks!

Good Morning. Today’s advice is the two of cups.

Love, partnership, and duality. An ebb and flow between two or more souls–a sensually charged dance. When we find a piece of ourselves in another we might lose sight of everything else around us–tunnel vision. Pulled into and fixated by the shiny, attractive light. Moth to a flame, infatuation. This risk aside, this card indicates the value and benefit of being intimate with others. Cooperative, mutual exchange.

Strength reversed came up in a client’s reading recently, and related to their past selves in a position of submission (weakened will-power). Placing this card reversed can go in a few directions. Upright, it’s about inner strength and courage–life throws all kinds of garbage at you, and you have the power to not let it shake you or corrupt you.

In reverse I see this card first as a matter of the ego unrestrained: conceit, boasting, and burdening others. This sounds in some ways similar to The Devil upright, and so I might consider this card in the sense of loss. Loss to confidence, power, or creativity. Rose Gwain defines it as “the lower nature dominating…loss of objectivity” (Discovering Yourself Through the Tarot).

Hello, I'd like a reading please. Recentl…

Hello, I'd like a reading please. Recently I've been feeling very stuck in my life so I'd like to know what I should do to regain some sense of purpose or direction? What should I focus on now or direct my energy towards to make progress towards a more fulfilled me? Thank you.

Thank you for a precise question. It’s good to see that you recognise you have the power to act and influence the direction of your life. This recognition alone is a strong starting point for moving toward a more fulfilled you.

Past – Temperance, reversed

Lack of balance or control, a sense of discordance or chaos – maybe this is why you are currently feeling stuck? A lack of direction or specific drive in the past lead to taking on too much or spreading yourself thin which gave you temporary satisfaction, but now you seek a purpose or the fulfilment of a long-term goal. Because you no longer have the satisfaction of these different outlets, there is the feeling of being stuck in the present because you are not seeing immediate results. You should take time to consider what you would like to achieve, and work on setting yourself some long-term goals. Perhaps make a to-do list of smaller milestones along the way – this will help to keep up the satisfaction and help you to remember that you are on track. Or maybe you do enjoy keeping up with many smaller endeavours but simply feel that this is not “correct” and feel unsatisfied because you do not feel the need for long-term achievements which is an idea that society promotes as being a key to happiness.

Present – The Star, reversed

In the present, there seems to be an inability to let go of things and start moving forward. This lines up with the past being filled with many endeavours. It is clear that you do not know where to focus your attention as the Star, reversed, speaks of the need for a plan. However, looking toward the future card…

Future – The Tower, reversed

The Tower, reversed, speaks of comfort and stability, an expected outcome. Without coming up with long-term plans, the future seems largely the same. Feeling stuck, this doesn’t seem to be what you are hoping for. You need to consider what aspects of your life you are unhappy with or would like to see change, and then begin forging plans to do so. Remember though, if you are happy with the way things are, you do not need to invite change simply because you feel this is what is expected of you. You should not compare yourself to others and aim to achieve the same milestones as everyone else. You have one life to lead and you should do what makes you happy.

Summary –

Spreading yourself thin leads to a feeling of lack of direction, but this does not mean that you are not doing good work or using your time wisely. As long as you keep doing what makes you happy, you should not worry about hitting milestones or setting in place long-term goals if these are not what you truly want. If, however, you are unhappy with aspects of your life it is within your power to change them. Start considering what you want to change and begin to make plans towards this change. If so, remember to tick off smaller goals along the way so that you do not lose that short-term satisfaction that seems to drive you and help keep you on track. Thanks for letting me read for you, and I hope that this helps you in some way, Anon.

I call my daily pulls “cards of meditation” as it’s something to ponder the whole day. This card is for today, should I feel cornered or out of sorts… something to keep me centered.

Queen of Pentacles. This one is amiable yet stern. Strict on regiment and focused on growth. It’s some one who seeks out what kind of efforts others can bring to the table. Once witnessed, criticism may follow to refine those qualities in another. This is in part to help those who need quality feedback and coaching, but its also to measure and adjust one’s own abilities compared to others. On good days they just want everyone to be healthy, productive, and happy.

Yesterday, everything was going well when I suddenly was overwhelmed with a random fit of depression. I’m not quite sure why or where it came from. It was hard and heavy… I pretty much stopped functioning for the day. Depression is weird and happens, even when things are going well I guess.

I asked: what, why, and advice. Looks like I really am just way inside my head. I overwhelm myself with the constant generation of ideas. Under the influence of the moon, if those thoughts are about things that stress me out or set me down a bad path… well that can get ugly. I guess I know now that I need vulnerability in these times. I need to connect and talk it out, even if it’s ugly and nonsensical.

Well, I’m feeling much better today 🙇‍♂️

I’d love to get back into daily card pulls, so here’s an effort 😅

Card of Meditation: Three of Rods.

This card is often described as one who’s in waiting. They may wait for past actions to unfold or are readying themselves for answers to come. But, what if they were waiting indefinitely? The state of mind this would create might be a softness of heart, yet strength of will, and eventual acceptance of conditions.

This card may be named by the word “integrity”. It’s a matter of always being at peace regardless of the condition of things. This requires a strong moral compass and undying hope for what might be or what may never will be.
